Days 36 - 52 (AD 1870) – 417.1 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

I have been not been keeping up my Jim’s Trek’s updates.

It’s not that I haven’t had the time, it is just that I haven’t forced myself to sit down a write my Trek’s journal.

This morning I spent 1 hour and pedaled my Schwinn 170 25.2 miles. Today is Day 1,870. It is also Day 52 of Jim’s Trek Part VII. The last time I updated my blog was on Day 35 or AD 1,854.

Since then I have logged 417.1 miles including this morning. To date I have pedaled, in Africa 1,276.8 miles.

Overall, I have completed 41,059.1 miles. I now have 8.940.9 miles left to reach my overall goal of 50,000 miles.

Days 30 - 35 (AD 1854) – 149.9 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day.

Have you ever had that kind of morning where you really do not want to get out of bed? I typically do not. I loved the early morning.

But this morning, I really did not want to face today. I just wanted to roll over in my bed and turn the day off.

Hara Estroff Marano wrote in her article "Can't Get Our of Bed", Psychology Today, Jun. 9, 2016.

"It is not a coincidence that on the days that you limit your sleep, get active in your own behalf, have a structure for the day, and move through it, you feel better. It would help for you to refine that process and make it a daily protocol for yourself. Some people need more structure in their lives than others, and you may be one of them."

And then I got up.

I pedaled 25.1 miles this morning, Day 1,854, on my Schwinn Fitness Cycle.

Over the past 6 days, Days 30 through and including Day 35 I pedaled 149.9 miles. Overall I have cycled 859.7 miles in South Africa.

My grand total of miles to date is 40,642.0. I have 9,358.0 more to go to reach my 50,000 mile goal.

then I started the bleach pressure washing of our pool deck.

And my biorhythms warned me.

Days 26 - 29 (AD 1848) – 100.6 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

I have decided to reduce the number of my Jim's Trek postings to once a week. This posting covers Days 26 through and including 29. I cycled my Schwinn Fitness cycle 100.6 miles. And I am still pedaling 1 hour per session.

Overall since December 2, 2012 I have pedaled 1,848 days. My total mileage is now at 40,492.1. My goal is 50,000 miles. All-things-being-equal I could be completed the remaining 9,507.9 miles in about 396 more days.

Jim's Trek VII begins in South Africa. My hope is to complete the circumference of the continent of Africa. On the 29th day I have completed 709.8 miles.

I am now located at Zweliyandia, South Africa.

Days 22 - 25 (AD 1844) – 99.6 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

Today is the 1,844th day that I have been cycling on my Schwinn Fitness Cycle. That is 1,844 days and 1,844 1-hour sessions, the equivalent of 40,391.5 miles.

Not bad for an aged man at the ripe age of 67 years.

Over the last 4 sessions, 22 through 25, I pedaled 99.6 miles. And I am still traveling in South Africa.

Something to think about -

Is it polite to add your two-cents to a group conversation when you know absolutely nothing about the topic(s) being discussed?

Jim's Gotta Eat -

Last night's supper was certainly a new and amazing taste fest. Cabbage Pie with Tomato Sauce.

Days 16 - 21 (AD 1840) – 141.9 Miles on My Schwinn 170 in South Africa

Good Day,

Well I guess it was bound to happen after about 25,000 miles on my Schwinn 170. I have pedaled 40,291.9 miles on 2 Schwinn Fitness cycles.

My clues that there must be something wrong and/or broken with the electronic portion of the “gears” of my Schwinn 170 are:

1. I am no longer sweating over the 60 minutes that I pedal each session, 5-times a week.

2. There appears to be no response any longer when I try to adjust the resistance programs of my Schwinn 170.

3. There may be possible effect which may tie to the increase in my diabetes blood sugar count. Just a guess. It appears that when I was exercising and sweating my blood sugar numbers were kept under control. Again, just a guess, but a coincidental comparison.

It looks like I will need a new Fitness Cycle to complete the remaining 9,708.1 miles.

Over the last 6 pedaling days I cycled 141.9 miles. I am now on my 1,840th day of pedaling my Schwinn Fitness Cycle.

Here is a small collection of images, from Google Maps, of my stops along my Trek in South Africa.

NextDoor is the current time of the open telephone party-line past.

Technologically adrift with the gossip-mongers, with a insistent and and assumed veiled incognito hankering to announce just who is more dumber than dumb.

Quilts SB Update -

We have completed the 1st Strip for our new Rainbow Freedom Quilt. We hope to have at least 8 possibly 10 in the construction of our new design.

The strip is about 70" long and each pieced block is 3/4-inch square.

Our TWO-MEN Quilt Fabric Art Exhibition continues through the June 25th at the Mirella Cimato Art Gallery at 2145 1st Ave S, St. Petersburg. Check it out.
